Mamas, In Case You Were Wondering…It’s ALL Work

Mamas In Case You Were Wondering1

I’d shared this on Facebook a while ago and had promised to delve into it in longer post.

These are thoughts that have been bubbling in my head for a while now, especially when I see the so-called “mommy wars” online.

So, here goes:

It’s ALL work.

The cleaning,

the cooking,

the organizing,

the laundry,

the picking up,

the dishes,

the reading,

the playing,

the consoling,

the breaking up of squabbles,

the running of errands,

the keeping in touch with extended family,

the birthday party hosting,

the play date making,

the nappy changing,

the after-school activities chauffeuring and chaperoning

the work you don’t get paid in money to do

the work you get paid to do

It’s ALL work

the one where you leave home to work in an office

the one where you work from home

the one where you work at home

It’s ALL work

the home management

the taking care of kids

the writing

the painting

the creating

the jewelry making

the blogging

the coaching

the teaching

the daycare/yoga studio/online store running

It’s ALL work

the early morning sessions

the late night stretches

the middle of the day, bits-and-pieces, spells

the full time day

the part time periods

It’s ALL work

It’s ALL work. Joyous, glorious, blessed.Love-filled, soul-centered, unconditional, and unpaid. But work. Our work, as moms, wives, conscious stewards of our homes.

Sooo…The next time someone asks you what you do, please don’t say, “Nothing… I’m just a mom”. I’ve been guilty of this myself… so I get it:)

The next time

you meet a mom who chooses to stay at home and take care of her family…

you meet a mom who chooses to go out of the house and work in an office, and take care of her family…

you meet a mom who chooses to stay at home, work from home, and take care of her family

Please respect her choice and remember at the end of the day, she is doing the same thing as you- take care of her family.

Remember, differences are okay. Disrespect is not.

It's all work, mamas

  2. This is beautiful, Prerna.

  3. I absolutely love this. We mothers need to stick together and not judge each other. We all have different paths to follow and only we know what’s right for us. I love your message :-)
